Agaton is more deadly than Typhoon Yolanda?


Before fully developing into tropical depression Agaton, the Low Pressure Area (LPA) accomplished thirty-seven (37) deaths, sixty-five (65) injured and seven (7) missing  in Mindanao, Philippines, specifically,  in Regions IX, X, XI and CARAGA.

In this aspect, Agaton is more deadly than Typhoon Yolanda because the latter  did accomplish nothing when it was merely a low pressure area.

Of the nineteen (19) incidents reported, sixteen (16) were landslides and three (3) were floodings/flashflood.

Affected were 498 bgys in 73 municipalities in 14 provinces. (NDRRMC update dated Jan. 17, 2014, 7:00 p.m).

In the recent update of Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical & Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) (January 19, 2014: 5:40 am) , tropical depression Agaton, which covers the following areas, namely, Surigao del Norte including Siargao Island, Surigao del Sur, Dinagat Province, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Davao Oriental and Compostella Valley under signal # 1, is noted to be slow (more…)
