Forbidden Meat and Sodom and Gomorrah


What is the connection between forbidden meat and destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah? Is there any logical connection between them? After discussing the “Concluding topic on Procreation and Prohibited Meat“, let us connect the prohibited act to actual scriptural event, to confirm whether or not the Words indeed are referring to a living human meat or animal meat.

The subject verse states, to wit:

4The one thing you must not eat is meat with blood still in it; I forbid this because the life is in the blood.(Genesis 9:4, TEV)

We will try to see, based on scriptural evidence, if in case of its violation,  it had indeed resulted to punitive actions. But when we say punitive actions, let us agree that it means punitive actions by the One who spoke, to the exclusion of punitive actions by parents, preachers, imams, etc, who are not the origin of the Words.

Why punitive actions, by the way? Because, the words were spoken immediately after the flood. They can be used as a clue to the gravity of the “prohibited act” in the eyes of the One who spoke the prohibition, (more…)
